tiny dragonflyI AM A PROFESSIONAL HEADSHOT PHOTOGRAPHER.  THIS IS NOT A HOBBY FOR ME… THIS IS MY FULL TIME JOB AND I PREFER ONLY TO WORK WITH PROFESSIONALS WHO TAKE THIS PART OF THEIR JOB VERY SERIOUSLY.   

CANCELATION POLICY:

DEPOSITS ARE CONSIDERED A “HOLDING FEE”.   YOU ARE PAYING ME TO HOLD A SESSION DATE FOR YOU.   SINCE I SHOOT OUTSIDE NATURAL LIGHT I ONLY DO ONE SESSION A DAY I AM TURNING AWAY OTHER POTENTIAL CLIENTS WHO WANT AND NEED YOUR SESSION TIME.   THEREFORE, NO MATTER WHAT YOUR REASON FOR CANCELING  YOUR DEPOSIT IS NON-REFUNDABLE AND NON-TRANSFERABLE.   
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU BOOK OUT WITH YOUR AGENT AND/OR MANAGER WHEN SCHEDULING A HEADSHOT SESSION TO AVOID THEM SCHEDULING AUDITIONS DURING THAT WINDOW OF TIME.  
CANCELING VIA EMAIL IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AS I MAY NOT GET IT.  YOU MUST CALL THE OFFICE.

SESSION FEES/BALANCE DUE:

THE BALANCE OF YOUR SESSION FEE WILL BE DUE ON THE DAY OF YOUR SHOOT.
CREDIT CARDS ARE ONLY ACCEPTED THROUGH PAY PAL AND THERE IS A $25.00 FEE.   I WILL HAVE TO INVOICE YOU AND YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY ONLINE BEFORE YOU LEAVE ON THE DAY OF YOUR SHOOT.
CHECKS ARE ACCEPTED BUT ONLY IF DRAWN ON LOCAL, NATIONAL BANKS SUCH AS WELLS FARGO, BANK ONE, CHASE, BANK OF AMERICA, ECT….  IN OTHER WORDS NO MOM AND POP CREDIT UNIONS OR NON-LOCAL BANKS.

RESCHEDULING:

THINGS HAPPEN.   STUFF COMES UP.   I GET IT.   IT HAPPENS TO ME ALL THE TIME BUT I WON’T CANCEL YOUR SESSION.   IF YOU CANCEL WITHIN 72 HOURS OF YOUR SESSION AND YOUR DEPOSIT HAS BEEN PAID THEN YOU WILL BE ALLOWED TO RESCHEDULE AND APPLY YOUR DEPOSIT TO YOUR NEXT SESSION AS LONG AS IT IS WITHIN 30 DAYS OF THE ORIGINAL SESSION DATE.    THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS REGARDLESS OF THE REASON FOR CANCELING SO IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS POLICY DO NOT BOOK A SESSION.

RESCHEDULING DUE TO WEATHER:

THE ONLY REASON I WOULD EVER HAVE TO RESCHEDULE YOU WOULD BE DUE TO WEATHER.   I DO NOT SHOOT IN A STUDIO.  I ONLY SHOOT OUTSIDE NATURAL LIGHT.   THANKFULLY, LIVING IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA WE DON’T HAVE MUCH ISSUE WITH THE WEATHER.
THE WEATHER CAN BE DRASTICALLY DIFFERENT WHERE YOU LIVE COMPARED TO WHERE I LIVE.  SO IF THERE IS A SEVERE ENOUGH ISSUE WHERE I LIVE THEN I WILL CONTACT YOU WHEN I FEEL LIKE IT’S PROBABLY NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.  I TRY NOT TO JUMP THE GUN ON THESE THINGS BECAUSE THE FORECASTS ARE WRONG MORE THAN THEY ARE RIGHT.   IF YOU WAKE UP AND IT’S A MONSOON OUTSIDE YOUR HOUSE THEN PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CALL BEFORE YOU COME.  IF I HAVEN’T CALLED OR EMAILED YOU ABOUT IT THEN WE ARE PROBABLY “ON”.

RESHOOTS AND REFUNDS:

PHOTOGRAPHY IS AN ART FORM AND ART IS EXTREMELY SUBJECTIVE TO INTERPRETATION.  MY STYLE OF SHOOTING IS CLEARLY SHOWN ON MY WEBSITE AND FACEBOOK PAGE.   IF YOU DON’T LOVE MY STYLE THEN DON’T SCHEDULE WITH ME.   DON’T ASK ME TO CHANGE MY STYLE TO SHOOT WITH YOU.  FIND A PHOTOGRAPHER THAT SHOOTS IN A STYLE YOU LIKE.
IF THERE IS A CAMERA MALFUNCTION OR A TECHNICAL FAILURE THEN THAT IS ON ME.   THAT HAS HAPPENED ONLY A FEW TIMES IN MY CAREER AND IT WILL BE OBVIOUS THAT IT’S HAPPENED.   THERE ARE NO REFUNDS. RESHOOTS ARE FOR TECHNICAL ISSUES ONLY.   NO RE-SHOOTS ON THE PROMOS.  
PLEASE, AND I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH.   TALK TO OR MEET WITH YOUR REPS BEFORE HAND SO EVERYONE IS ON THE SAME PAGE.  YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR KNOWING WHAT THEY WANT AND NEED.  IF YOU DON’T ASK THEM OR IF THEY DON’T PROPERLY CONVEY WHAT THEIR WISHES ARE  FROM YOUR SESSION THEN THAT IS NOT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PHOTOGRAPHER.   I AM ALWAYS OPEN TO HAVING AGENTS OR MANAGERS CALL ME TO DISCUSS A CLIENT.
IF YOU OR YOUR CHILD IS TIRED, SICK OR HAVING A BAD, LOW ENERGY DAY OR HAS ISSUES WITH LIGHT SENSITIVITY OR IS HAVING A BAD HAIR DAY AND YOUR HEADSHOTS END UP REFLECTING THAT, IT IS NOT GROUNDS FOR A REFUND OR FREE RESHOOT.
ADDITIONALLY,  SOMETIMES PARENTS CAN BE OVERLY INVOLVED AND THAT CAN BE DISTRACTING TO BOTH THE CHILD AND THE PHOTOGRAPHER.  IT INTERRUPTS THE CREATIVE FLOW AND CHANGES THE ENTIRE VIBE OF THE SHOOT.  THINK OF YOUR HEADSHOT SESSION THE SAME WAY YOU WOULD A BOOKING.  PARENTS ARE BETTER SEEN AND NOT HEARD.   AN OVERLY INVOLVED PARENT CAN GET A CHILD FIRED.
AND JUST LIKE A BOOKING… SHOW UP READY TO WORK.   IF YOU ARE REALLY, TRULY SICK THEN CANCEL.  YOU WILL LOSE YOUR DEPOSIT BUT SEE “RESCHEDULING” ABOVE.

 

YOUNG CHILDREN AND TODDLERS:

PHOTOGRAPHING YOUNG CHILDREN, TODDLERS AND BABIES FOR ACTOR’S HEAD SHOTS IS VERY CHALLENGING.  HEAD SHOTS REQUIRE FOCUS AND THE ABILITY TO FOLLOW DIRECTIONS.   MOST YOUNG CHILDREN, AND ESPECIALLY TODDLERS AND BABIES DO NOT EVEN UNDERSTAND WHAT THE HECK WE ARE DOING AND WHY.   THAT SAID, I HAVE COME ACROSS KIDS AS YOUNG AS 2 AND 3 THAT WERE AMAZING IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA AND ANYONE COULD TELL THAT THEY WERE BORN TO BE IN SHOW BUSINESS… BUT IT’S BEEN A VERY SMALL PERCENTAGE IN MY EXPERIENCE.
I DO NOT GUARANTEE ANY WORK FOR CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 5.   IT’S VERY HIT AND MISS AT THAT AGE.   IF YOU BOOK A SESSION FOR YOUR CHILD AND WHEN YOU ARRIVE  YOUR CHILD IS UNWILLING TO COOPERATE OR I AM UNABLE TO GET THEM TO LISTEN OR DO WHAT IS NEEDED YOU ARE STILL RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING FOR THE SESSION AND ANY DEPOSIT PAID IS NON-REFUNDABLE.   IF YOU’RE THINKING THAT YOUR CHILD IS MEANT FOR STARDOM… REMEMBER, BEING ADORABLE AND HAVING A GREAT PERSONALITY IS GREAT BUT BEING ABLE TO FOCUS AND BRING IT WHEN IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA IS WHAT IS GOING TO BE KEY FOR SUCCESS.
